Eliminating stains on your aircraft's exterior can be a real pain in the posterior. Zip Chem has just the solution to your soiled-related problems with their Calla Aviation Products. Take, for instance, Zip Chem's Calla 800, a concentrated water-based cleaner that is especially effective with general aircraft. It's versatile too. Besides removing exhaust stains, Calla 800 is an excellent choice for cleaning wheel wells and landing gear without solvent.

Questions about its efficacy can be removed as well since it meets all the requirements of specification MIL-PRF-87937D, Type II (USAF).

Application

The following recommendations for the cleaning of aircraft, aircraft components and facilities have been compiled through many years of cleaning many types of aircraft under widely varied conditions.

Exterior Fuselage Tail sections, Wing Tips, Etc.: Mix one part Calla 800 with three to 20 parts water, depending on the amount of soil. Then apply by spray or mop, allowing a few minutes for penetration before mopping or brushing and rinsing thoroughly. For recovery of badly oxidized surfaces, one to three mixture will give great results under most conditions. Future washing with more dilute mixtures will maintain oxide free, shiny surfaces.

Exterior-Blast Area Landing Gear: Mix one part Calla 800 with two parts water. Next, apply by spray or mop and allow a few minutes for penetration before scrubbing heavy deposits. Afterward, flood rinse with water. ∗Note: If solvent can be used, mix one part Calla 800 with five parts solvent. Agitate mixture briefly with air to form emulsion. Spray or mop mixture over entire area. Allow a few minutes for penetration, then scrub surfaces well. Lastly, rinse with water.

Landing Gear & Wheel Wells While the use of solvent is restricted, apply Calla 800 full strength and allow 20 to 30 minutes dwell time. After that, brush those areas subject to heavy grease build up. Finally, rinse with high pressure hot water with the nozzle as close as possible to surface to take advantage of the additional force provided by the water pressure.

Waterless Cleaning Dilute Calla 800 as amount of soil requires in open bucket or barrel. After saturating a mop in solution and wringing out any excess, thoroughly mop the surface, covering a small area at a time. Finally, rinse with a clean, damp mop.
