Randolph MIL-C-8514C is a three component pretreatment wash primer for use on clean metal surfaces of all types as a treatment prior to application of the coating system.

This product meets the performance requirements of MIL-C-8514C and is for use on clean metal surfaces of all types as a treatment prior to the application of a primer. The purpose of the pretreatment is to increase the adhesion of the primer system to the metal.

Application

  • Steel: Surface must be clean and free of grease, dirt, oil, rust and other contaminants that could interfere with proper adhesion.
  • Aluminum: Surface must be clean and free of grease, dirt, oil, rust and other contaminants that could interfere with proper adhesion.
  • Galvanized and other metals: Clean and remove surface contamination including oxidation.
  • Reduction: Reduce with Denatured Alcohol. When thinning, do not exceed the VOC limit.
  • Conventional Spray: Atomizing Pressure: 45 – 55 psi, Pot Fluid Pressure: 10 – 15 lbs.
  • Clean-up: Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with Denatured Alcohol.
  • Safety Precautions: This product is intended for professional use in an industrial environment only. Consult the Material Safety Data Sheet prior to application.
  • Color: Yellow
  • Volume Solids: 9.5%
  • Solids by Weight: 18.8%
  • Viscosity: 57–74 KU
  • DFT: 0.3–0.5 mils
