Spend less time on the ground and more time in the sky by choosing PPG Aerospace® PR-1829 B-1/2 Canopy and Windshield Sealant from SkyGeek. The proven windshield sealant offers a rapid cure and a strong seal, keeping your windshield in place and preventing leaks. The Class B sealant has a service temperature range from -80°F (-62°C) to 320°F to (160°C), with intermittent excursions up to 420°F (216°C), so temperature fluctuations are never a problem. The thick sealant is designed for fillet sealing and can be used on glass, polycarbonate, acrylic and other common windshield materials. The sealant contains no organic solvents and will not craze substrates. Once cured, PPG Aerospace® PR-1829 B-1/2 Canopy and Windshield Sealant offers excellent resistance to UV and weather exposure, maintaining a strong bond and keeping your windshield as leak-free as possible.
PPG Aerospace® PR-1829 B-1/2 Canopy and Windshield Sealant from SkyGeek is gray and goes on smoothly for the best seal. The two-part epoxy-cured Permapol® polythioether compound has a paste-like consistency with low sag, so it's suitable for application via an extrusion gun or spatula.

Surface preparationImmediately before applying sealant to primed substrates, the surfaces should be cleaned with solvents. Contaminants such as dirt, grease, and/or processing lubricants must be removed prior to sealant application.
A progressive cleaning procedure should be employed using the appropriate solvents and new lint free cloth (reclaimed solvents or tissue paper should not be used). Always pour solvent on the cloth to avoid contaminating the solvent supply. Solvent may craze polycarbonate. Wash one small area at a time.
It is important that the surface is dried with a second clean cloth prior to the solvent evaporating to prevent the redeposition of contaminants on the substrate.
Substrate composition can vary greatly. This can affect sealant adhesion. It is recommended that adhesion characteristics to a specific substrate be determined prior to application on production parts or assemblies. For adhesion to polysulfide sealants, PR-187 Adhesion Promoter must be used. For adhesion to polycarbonate and acrylic substrates, PR-142 Adhesion Promoter must be used.
For a more thorough discussion of proper surface preparation, please consult the SAE Aerospace Information Report AIR 4069. This document is available through SAE, 400 Commonwealth Avenue, Warrendale, PA 15096-0001.
