TECTYL 891D, Class I is a solvent cutback, firm film, black asphaltic corrosion preventive compound. TECTYL 891D, Class I provides long-term protection for metallic surfaces in indoor or outdoor exposure and during international shipments. TECTYL 891D, Class I is approved under Military Specifications MIL-PRF-16173E, Grade 1, for Class I, and MIL-P-116J, Type P-1.

The maximum performance of TECTYL 891D, Class I can be achieved only when the metal surfaces to be protected are clean, dry and free of rust, oil and mill scale. Daubert Chemical Company recommends that the metal substrate temperature be 50-95°F(10-35°C) at the time of product application.

TECTYL 891D, Class I is formulated to be used as supplied. Ensure uniform consistency prior to use. Continued stirring is generally not required. If the product thickens due to cold storage or loss of solvent during use, contact Daubert Chemical Company. DO NOT THIN TECTYL 891D, Class I. Incorrect thinning will affect film build, dry time and product performance. Daubert Chemical Company recommends that the ambient and product temperature be 50-95°F(10-35°C) at time of application. TECTYL 891D, Class I can be spray or dip applied.

TECTYL 891D, Class I can be removed with TECTYL HPS solventborne thinner, vapor degreasing, hot alkaline wash, or low pressure steam. TECTYL 891D, Class I can be removed from fabrics by normal dry cleaning procedures. Avoid the use of chlorinated or highly aromatic solvents when removing from painted surfaces, as these solvents may adversely affect paint.

  • Minimum Flash (Penske Martin Closed Cup, i.e. PMCC): 105°F
  • Density at 77°F (lbs/gal): 7.2 to 7.4
  • Specific Gravity at 60°F: .88
  • Recommended Dry Film Thickness Over Metal Profile: 2.5 mils
  • Theoretical Coverage at Recommended DFT: 340 sq. ft/gal
  • Non-volatile Percent by Weight: 56 to 64
  • Non-volatile Percent by Volume: 51 to 55
  • Approximate Dry to touch Time at 777deg;F: 2 hours
  • Cure Time: 24 hours
