PPG Aerospace® P/S 872 B-2 Conductive Sealant from SkyGeek is a corrosion-inhibitive sealant that can turn any surface into a conductive surface. The sealant has a service temperature range from -67° (-55°C) to 250°F (121°C), with intermittent excursions up to 275°F (135°C), allowing for flexible installations. Once cured, the sealant maintains electrical continuity in highly torqued fay surfaces, making it the ideal choice for use in lightning strike mitigation systems. When applied correctly, the sealant acts as a barrier against the common causes of corrosion, protecting aluminum alloys and dissimilar metals. Cured sealant is resistant to intermittent exposure to jet fuel and aviation gas, allowing for more flexible applications.
PPG Aerospace® P/S 872 B-2 Conductive Sealant is a two-part formula that must be mixed just before use. The sealant comes in a pre-measured pint-size kit, and the aluminum-filled manganese dioxide-cured polysulfide compound exhibits low sag for ease of application. Use an extrusion gun or spatula for the best results and most control. The sealant cures at room temperature and adheres well to most aircraft substrates.
