PPG Aerospace® PR-1196 Secondary Fuel Barrier is designed to be used with your other fuel tank sealants and leak-mitigation systems as a backup barrier to help prevent fuel migration in the event of a leak. PPG Aerospace® PR-1196 Secondary Fuel Barrier is sprayable and has a polyurethane base that won’t interact with aviation gasoline or jet fuel. The coating is typically applied to the exterior surfaces of the center wing box tank so that if a leak occurs in the tank’s primary seal system, any spilled fuel will be contained and will not migrate.
PPG Aerospace PR-1196 BMS 5-81 Secondary Fuel Barrier is sold in a pint-size kit. The two-component coating is designed to be mixed just before application. When blended, PPG Aerospace® PR-1196 Secondary Fuel Barrier is very thick, offering plenty of coverage and forming a good film thickness even on vertical surfaces. The coating cures at room temperature and is transparent when cured. PPG Aerospace® PR-1196 Secondary Fuel Barrier has high elongation and tensile strength.
