RTV142 is a ready-to-use silicone rubber adhesive sealant. This one-component, room-temperature-vulcanizing (RTV) product cures to a tough, durable, resilient silicone rubber when exposed to atmospheric moisture at room temperature. Low volatility is one of RTV142’s most important attributes. Methyl alcohol vapors are released from the sealant surface as a by-product of curing. These vapors are low odor and non-corrosive to all metals. The RTV142 rubber adhesive sealant’s thixotropic paste consistency allows it to be applied to vertical and overhead surfaces without sagging. RTV142 should not be used at thicknesses greater than 6mm (¼ inch), because it uses a moisture cure system. When section depths exceed 6mm (¼ inch), consider our one-component addition cure or two-component silicone rubber compounds as a potential alternative.
