PPG PRC-DeSoto JC5A Jointing Compound has a yellow color for easy identification. It is paste-like in consistency which makes it easy to apply using either a brush, a roller or a spatula. The compound is specially formulated to remain permanently fluid and is resistant to all types of aviation fuels including jet fuel and aviation gasoline, both of which can be corrosive. It also works over a wide temperature range, making it ideal for any environment. The paste is packaged into a six-ounce cartridge for easy dispensing and a removable cap is included to assist with storage. Surface preparation Immediately before applying JC5A to metallic, chemically treated, or painted substrates, the surfaces should be cleaned with solvents to remove contamination such as dirt, grease, and/or processing lubricants. A progressive cleaning procedure should be employed using the appropriate solvents and new lint-free cloth (reclaimed solvents or tissue paper should not be used). Always pour the solvent on to the cloth to avoid contaminating the solvent supply.
Wash one small area at a time. It is important that the surface is dried with a second clean cloth prior to the solvent evaporating to prevent the re-deposition of contaminants on to the substrate.
