Momentive RTV157 Silicone Electrical Sealant from SkyGeek is a one-component, ready-to-use, high strength silicone rubber adhesive sealant. The formula is designed to cure to a tough, resilient finish similar to a silicone rubber. All it needs to cure is ample exposure to atmospheric moisture at room temperatures. Momentive RTV157-3TG sealant from SkyGeek is a great choice for sealing all types of electrical connections and connectors. It has a gray color and is particularly well-suited for the aerospace industry. Please note that the sealant releases acetic acid vapors as a by-product of the curing process.
RTV157 sealants have a paste-like consistency that makes them easy to apply to virtually any surface. The non-sagging formula can be applied to horizontal, vertical and overhead surfaces in applications requiring high strength and temperature performance.
Since RTV157 sealant utilizes a moisture-cure system, it should only be applied in a thin layer, not to exceed a thickness of 6mm (1/4 in.). Where section depths exceed 6mm (1/4 in.), Momentive Performance Materials one-component, addition cure or two-component silicone rubber compounds are suggested as an alternative.
Momentive RTV157 sealants were not designed for and should not be used for applications intended for permanent implantation into the human body.
