When it comes to precision, Astrotech's LC-6 five-function quartz chronometer is up to the task. It is specifically designed to meet the increased demands of IFR and VFR flight. It is panel mounted, aircraft powered, and contains an internal keep-alive battery with 14 and 28-volt lamps.
The LC-6 has a customized large scale integrated circuit (LSI) chip which consists of several hundred transistors. The LSI chip is attached to a single circuit board, a simplified construction resulting in superior reliability and performance. In addition, this circuitry is not subject to dirt, vibration, friction, or the wear inherent in mechanical clock movements. For more information, see the features and specifications below.
Full six-digit display
Simple three-button operation
100 hour remote-activated flight timer
Two year "keep-alive" battery life (2 AAA batteries maintain clock time when aircraft power is removed)
Clock: 12 hour Local Time (LT) and 24 hour Universal Coordinated Time (UTC).
Elapsed Timer: 100 hour capacity Stopwatch (SW), stop & restart or reset to zero.
Flight Timer: 100 hour capacity started and stopped by external input (ie: landing gear).
Down-Counter: Presettable in hours, minutes, and seconds for timing approaches or fuel management. May be wired for external alarm.
Display: Continuous readout using a Liquid Crystal Display for excellent readability in direct sunlight.
Lighting: The display is backlit for night flying when connected to the aircraft instrument panel lighting system. Included with each panel mounted clock are 5-volt, 14-volt and 28-volt bulbs.
Weight: Less than 5 oz. (142 grams).
Installation: Installs directly into a standard 2-1/4" (57.2 mm) diameter clock panel cutout for the panel mounted LC-6 or mounts in the specified aircraft control wheels. Environmental: The LC-6 is qualified to all of the applicable sections of RTCA DO-160 for electrical and mechanical compliance.
